Saving Cord Blood
The blood in your baby’s umbilical cord is called Cord Blood.
Research has shown that Cord Blood can be used to treat a
growing variety of life-threatening diseases. These include
leukemia, certain cancers and blood/immune system disorders.
Cord Blood does not necessarily have to be used on your infant
(now or later in life). It can be used on other non-related
patients.
You may choose to donate it for use on other critically ill
patients or you may choose to store it (at a cost) for use
on your newborn. You may also choose to discard it. Please
consult with your physician on this matter. There are links
in the link section below that will give you more details
on storing it for future use.
